HELPFUL HINTS ABOUT YOUR HONDA GX120 MOTOR

ABOUT DATA SHEETS
The console date is printed in graph form and indicates how much horsepower and torque
your motor is developing at a given rpm. This information is very useful in determining
what gear ratio you should to obtain your best lap times.
Your highest tachometer reading should be 200 to 500 rpm's above the point the most horsepower is obtained.
( Depending on race track length, conditions, etc ..... )
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I CHANGE VALVE SPRINGS
Valve Springs will loose 15 to 20 % of their tension after they have been through the first Heat Cycle.
After this they will give up at a fairly slow rate, however we recommend changing Valve Springs
every 4 to 6 race events. (more often if your rpm's are above 5500 each time on the track)
"To avoid damage to your valve springs, do not over rev your motor on the stand"
SHOULD I USE A AIR FILTER
Definitely !!!!, for two reasons. One, it will prevent dust and dirt from entering your Racing Motor
and causing unnecessary wear on internal parts of the motor.
Secondly, your motor will make more horsepower with a Clean Air Filter.
NOW WHAT DO I DO
Your motor is shipped "WITH NO OIL" in the crankcase or the gear box. A Good Snythetic Oil is
Recommended. Many of our customers are using Mobil 1 0w30 or 5w30 with Excellent Results.
